Abstract

Chlordiazepoxide, a widely used antianxiety drug, has previously been reported to be effective in the treatment of various types of epilepsy. While the manufacturer does not recommend its use for this indication at this time, except by experienced investigators, the publication of 2 favorable reports on its effectiveness in convulsive disorders warrants publication of the following negative report to alert physicians to the difficulties one may encounter in the evaluation of drugs in this difficult clinical problem.
