Abstract

An evaluation of the immune status in patients with Burkitt's lymphoma was performed. Cellular immune responses were normal in both untreated patients and in patients in remission. An impairment of primary antibody response and low IgM levels were noted in untreated patients with Burkitt's lymphoma but not in patients in remission. A defect in humoral immunity associated with the presence of acive Burkitt's lymphoma is postulated; this defect is possibly related to IgM metabolism.
