Abstract
The results by enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) were comparable with those of fluorescent antibody and complement-fixation techniques, except that titers determined by ELISA were higher. In addition, ELISA was more sensitive in detecting antibody responses in sera from infected children who were less than 6 months of age and who did not demonstrate seroconversion values when tested by complement fixation. In addition, ELISA was more sensitive than complement fixation in detecting antibody response in adult contacts of children who had gastrointestinal infection and in adult volunteers experimentally infected with rotavirus.
