Abstract

Hyponatremia has been reported in children after tonsillectomy, but the morbidity of this clinical entity is still not widely appreciated. We describe a case of severe hyponatremia in a child who had adenotonsillectomy and perioperative treatment for von Willebrand disease. We will discuss the pathophysiology involved in this complication as well as strategies for prevention.
