Abstract

Legal issues regarding firearms can be categorized as an intervention, a real obstacle to intervention, or a perceived obstacle to intervention. Legal interventions to prevent gun violence include legislation targeted at gun manufacturers, dealers, and buyers or litigation. The primary perceived legal obstacle is the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution; other constitutional provisions (real obstacles) may have greater impact in the courtroom.
