Abstract

The toll of adolescent pregnancy on the adolescent as well as society is immense. This population presents unique challenges to the nurse. Adolescent pregnancy within a developmental context, assessment of health status, health education, parenting, and life choices for pregnant adolescents are described in this article. Resources and suggested interventions are also included. The goal of a healthy outcome for both mother and baby is achieved by collaboration between the nurse and the adolescent.
