1. The nonspecific esterase activity of most human tumors is low or frequently absent. 2. Carcinomas have less esterase activity than the homologous tissue of origin. 3. In contrast to other tumors, carcinomas of the thyroid have considerable esterase activity. 4. The esterase activity does not correlate with the degree of differentiation of the tumor.
