Abstract

Heavier BMI has been associated with higher C-reactive protein (CRP), a marker of inflammation. We investigated CRP and its primary regulatory cytokine, IL6, in relation to BMI fertile and mortality using data from the Iowa 65+ Rural Health Study on 485 healthy men and women who never smoked cigarettes (mean age=77.8, follow up=4.6 years).
