Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) in the form of deep learning has generated immense interest in the medical field in recent years. The application of artificial intelligence in ophthalmology has been mainly concentrated on the diseases with a high incidence, such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and glaucoma among others. AI-assisted automated screening and diagnosis of certain diseases in ophthalmology may maximize the physicians’ role at the clinic and offer the patients increased access to medical decision-making and eye care where ophthalmologists are not available. Although there are fewer initiatives in ocular oncology due to the rarity of eye tumors, the small number of specialists supports the need and immediate application of algorithms to aid screening and management decision.
