Abstract
To the Editor: Although Steinhoff et al. (Dec. 26 issue)1 provide important insights into the immunologic responses of patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection to Haemophilus influenzae type b vaccines, I am concerned that their finding that vaccination was successful in raising antibody levels may be extrapolated into a guideline of clinical practice. The authors point out that minimal information is available about the serotypes of H. influenzae that cause pneumonia in patients with HIV infection and that additional information is needed.
