In 2004, Pavletic and Vogelsang, with support from the National Cancer Institute, Office of Rare Diseases Research, Department of Defense, National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, Health Resources and Services Administration, and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, convened a Consensus Conference with the goal of advancing research in chronic GVHD. Participants in this Consensus Conference wrote 6 papers to provide the recommendations for diagnosis and scoring [23] , pathology [24] , biomarkers [25] , response criteria [26] , supportive care [27] , and design of clinical trials [28] .
