Abstract
Dementia poses one of the greatest societal challenges for the 21st century and global commitment is needed to generate strategies, policies, services, and supports for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers. In this chapter, we broaden our lens fully to consider the global impact of dementia. We argue that countries must prepare for this escalating crisis by developing strategies to address the unmet and quality of life needs of their citizens with dementia and their caregivers. We present examples of national strategies that select countries have developed to address this global burden.
