Fungal infections are an important cause of morbidity in hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) recipients. These infections present considerable challenges to clinicians, although recent studies suggest relative improvements in outcomes associated with new diagnostic technologies and antifungal therapies. This chapter reviews the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, and therapeutic approaches for invasive fungal infections in HCT recipients, with more detailed discussion on the most common pathogens, Candida and Aspergillus species.
