Abstract

The response of the fibrinolytic enzyme system in 34 subjects performing varying degrees of physiologic exercise was studied. Although there was an increase in plasminogen activator as evidenced by a rapid euglobulin lysis time, no increase in fibrinogen, fibrinogen antigen, fibrinogen fibrin degradation products, or free plasmin could be detected. These findings remained constant despite severe degrees of physiologic exercise. These data suggest that fibrinolytic activity does not become manifest.
