Abstract

Crohn disease and ulcerative colitis are associated with numerous extraintestinal manifestations. It is clearly evident that IBD is a multi-systemic disease that stretches beyond the gastrointestinal tract. Knowledge about extraintestinal manifestations is critical as patients can present with these instead of the classical bowel symptoms. Furthermore, these extraintestinal manifestations of IBD are a cause of major morbidity in patients and need to be considered and addressed at all points of care.
