EXPANDING VORTEX TRAPPING TARGETTING SMALL, NONCANCEROUS CELLS

Abstract

We present a new geometry that can selectively purify small (6-10 µm) cells in a label-free manner, using inertial focusing and vortex trapping. We believe that this device is a significant milestone, as it will expand the capabilities and benefits of vortex trapping to non-cancerous cells within a new size range of interest [1]. While other label-free cell purification devices for cells with the reported size distribution exist, this improvement allows for future integration of cell separation with other on-chip cellular engineering processes [2].
