Abstract
Evidence-based toxicology attempts to translate concepts of evidence-based medicine to toxicology. The objective and transparent assessment of methods has served clinical medicine well over the last two decades, providing practitioners with best available evidence in quality-assured way. Tools such as systematic reviews, quality appraisal, and meta-analysis have been developed for this purpose. The creation of the Evidence-based Toxicology Collaboration in the US and Europe promises to establish a similar process for safety assessment.
