Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate confocal microscopy findings after LASIK done by the femtosecond surgical laser (Intralase). Material and methods: 15 eyes of 15 patients underwent LASIK; corneal flaps were created with the femtosecond surgical laser in all eyes. All eyes were analyzed with the confocal microscope at 1 week after surgery. Results: Corneal epithelium and stromal keratocytes at the corneal flap were normal in all post-surgery exams. All eyes presented small reflective particles at the corneal flap interface. Activated keratocytes were visible at the corneal flap interface and at the retroablation zone in all examined corneas. Conclusion: Confocal microscopy findings after LASIK done by Femtosecond surgical laser were similar than reports done by microkeratome devices.
