Abstract

The terms incidence, prevalence, coronary heart disease, coronary artery disease, and cardiovascular disease, as used in this chapter (Wilson and Douglas 2012), are defined as follows: Prevalence-The number of existing cases of a disease divided by the total population at a point in time. Incidence-The number of new cases of a disease over a period of time divided by the population at risk.
