Abstract

Human monocytic and granulocytic ehrlichioses are emerging tick-borne infections. Each is caused by different, but related, obligate intracellular bacteria. Recent advances have clarified the classification of these species and progress in understanding their pathogenesis has begun. There is, however, still much to learn about the clinical spectrum, diagnosis, management, and treatment of these unusual infections.
