N2 - Ocular complications of the sickling disorders are multiple and require continuing assessment to detect lesions early enough for effective prophylactic therapy to maximize visual functioning. The natural history of proliferative sickle retinopathy is incompletely understood; therefore, the risk factors for visual outcome are largely unknown. The disease requires close monitoring of the patient for progression or regression of lesions in determining the selection of therapeutic options.
