Abstract

The biological efficiency of π-mesons relatise to 60Co γ-rays for jejunal crypt cell lethality increased with decreasing size of dose fractions. At fractional doses of 450 rad of γ-ray, the RBE was ∼1.75. The survival of crypt colony-forming cells varied as a function of the stage in the division cycle at which they were irradiated, but this variation was less with π-mesons than with γ-rays.
