Abstract
"I watched a member of the housestajf give a rather cursory consent for a central line placement. Although the patient medically needed the line, the procedure was barely explained to the patient, and the patient may not have even been competent. In addition the nursing staff was pushing the house staff to put in the central line. " A third-year medical student, Indiana University School of Medicine, 2004.
