Abstract

Experiments were performed to determine if exposure of macrophages and fibroblasts to cyclic strain would alter their response to different concentrations of particular polymethylmethacrylates (PMMA) used in prostheses. Results show that exposure to massive amounts of PMMA has cytotoxic effects on both fibroblasts and macrophages.
