Abstract
Diffuse lung disease (DLD) refers to a heterogenous group of diseases that result in disordered gas exchange. The etiology of DLD in children aged 2–18years old is broad and is most frequently secondary to infectious or post-infectious processes, systemic disease, or immune dysfunction. Advances in genetic testing and imaging have led to improved diagnostic capabilities and earlier treatment. Treatment regimens have advanced as well, with newer targeted therapies. Given the rarity of these conditions, however, more research is needed to better understand disease pathology and optimize treatment.
