Abstract
The differential diagnosis of dysphagia contains numerous entities. The diagnostic work-up can be extremely difficult and exhaustive in many cases. Typical of any diagnostic dilemma, emphasis on history and physical examination remains paramount. Imaging studies can be extremely valuable in certain cases. Once a diagnosis has been established, treatment options are often less problematic. Successful treatment results in a return of one of life's most enjoyable experiences.
