N2 - The dermatoglyphic patterns of eight patients with the Prader-Willi syndrome and normal karyotypes were studied, including qualitative (finger and palm patterns and main line terminations) and quantitative variables (a-b and A'-d ridge counts, maximal atd angle, total finger ridge count, ulnarity and main line indexes). The data from the literature on 24 patients with normal karyotypes were included in the analysis of some characteristics (finger and palm patterns, main line terminations and palm creases). Only the terminations of the main lines A and T differed significantly between the patients and the control sample of 100 normal individuals; the main line A terminated radially (position 1+2) more frequently than in the controls. Accordingly, the main line T terminations were dislocated from position 13 to positions 11 and 12 more frequently in the patients than in the controls.
