Flexor and extensor tendon lacerations are some of the most complex injuries treated by surgeons and physical therapists. It is important for the treating physical therapist to have a good understanding of tendon anatomy, nutrition, and healing to provide appropriate intervention. Surgical and rehabilitation techniques continue to evolve, leading to improved functional outcome for patients.
