Abstract

More than 2,600 infants have some degree of eye damage and loss of vision from retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) each year in the United States. Transcleral cryotherapy, a treatment that has been shown to decrease vision loss due to ROP by 50%, is now being used in the United States.
