Abstract

In response to questions from a reader of the preceding Technical Note [Dagnelie (1990) Clin. Vision Sci. 5, 95-100], correction of a polynomial coefficient in the conversion from planimetric visual field data to retinal areas is given. In addition, an improved set of coefficients is presented, taking into account the requirement that relative, rather than absolute, errors in the polynomial fit to the conversion function should remain constant as a function of eccentricity. This new requirement moreover allows a better fit with a lower order polynomial.
