Abstract

Surgeons who treat patients with single ventricle physiology are well acquainted with the short- term and long-term complications leading up to and following the Fontan operation. This chapter will discuss specific surgical complications with the bidirectional Glenn shunt, Fontan operation, and arrhythmia surgery. New illustrations are provided to overcome obstacles that the surgeon may encounter during the implementation of these procedures such as stenosis, clot formation, or air embolism.
