Abstract
Arthrodesis of the cervical spine is performed in children for various abnormalities such as spinal instability, congenital malformations, and trauma. Complications may be related to the individual patient’s abnormalities or the surgery itself. Complication rates also vary with surgical approach and method of instrumentation. The complication types, rates, and management options are discussed in this chapter. Knowledge of these issues may help surgeons to anticipate and manage them effectively.
