Abstract
There is a dynamic and complex interrelationship between the child with neurodevelopmental disability (NDD) and the community. Positive outcomes of resiliency and inclusion result when there is access to resources, community supports, and sound family dynamics and caregiver well-being. Unfavorable issues such as maltreatment, bullying, and mental health issues can be mitigated by focusing on the functioning of the community that surrounds the child, which first and foremost includes the family unit. Healthcare providers must focus on providing community supports to children with NDD in order to optimize their full potential.
