Abstract
The US Army Echelon III or NATO Role III deployed medical treatment facility is the combat support hospital (CSH). This unit is designed to be a relatively stationary facility during stability operations and is capable of functioning as a major trauma resuscitation hospital. During advancing combat operations, the CSH is capable of moving, generally at the Corps level of operations. The CSH commander has the mission to be surgically capable within 12 hours of a jump and fully capable within 36 hours. This chapter will detail the organization, capabilities, and recent literature describing performance of the CSH in current operations.
