Abstract

Colorectal carcinoma is a leading cause of death in the United States. Risk factors include genetic predispotion, diet, obesity, and inflammatory bowel disease. Early detection and chemoprevention can lead to a lower death rate. Future developments will include sensitive and specific large-scale screening.
