Abstract
Infection with Histoplasma capsulatum may cause chronic cavitary pulmonary disease in humans. Approximately 12% to 17% of patients with chronic pulmonary histoplasmosis have an impaired cell mediated immune response to histoplasmin. It has been suggested that this impairment may be reversed by transfer factor. The authors gave 3 U of transfer factor to a patient with anergic chronic pulmonary histoplasmosis and observed transient conversion of his skin test and lymphocyte transformation index (LTI).
