Abstract

Presentation of Case A 37-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of increasing dyspnea and edema. A diagnosis of congenital heart disease was made at the age of six months, when a physician found mild cyanosis and a loud systolic murmur. Frequent respiratory tract infections occurred during infancy. He began to crawl at nine months and to walk at two years. He was often observed in a knee—chest position in his crib, and he squatted after exertion during his early years. An uncomplicated tonsillectomy was performed at three years of age.
