Abstract
We see what we know. An important component of the genetic approach to otolaryngology is an enhanced sensitivity to distinctive clinical features that may define a specific syndrome. The ever expanding array of new syndromes being identified and understanding of the molecular bases of birth defects and genetic diseases require every specialist to stay up to date. All otolaryngologists are encouraged to develop a collegial referral network for genetic evaluation and syndrome identification.
