Cancer Genetics, Cancer Biology, and Tumor Growth and Metastasis: The Interaction of Cancer and Its Host Environment

Abstract

Genitourinary (GU) malignancies are a diverse set of cancers treated with a multidisciplinary approach. Similar to other cancers, different combinations of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy are the backbone of therapy. We will examine the tumor biology of GU cancers and seek to provide a molecular rationale for how these cancers are treated. We will examine a molecular rationale for tissue-sparing therapies for bladder cancer and surgical intervention as the gold standard treatment for nonmetastatic, renal cell carcinoma.
