Abstract
Resuscitation from hemorrhagic shock in trauma patients with active, ongoing bleeding is an area of active research and rapidly evolving best practice. Key elements discussed in this chapter include the damage control surgical model for rapid anatomic resolution, deliberate hypotensive resuscitation, early administration of red blood cells, plasma, and platelets, adjuvant therapy with antifibrinolytics, coagulation monitoring with viscoelastic tests and the early induction of deep anesthesia.
