Abstract

Bis(N,N-dimethylcarbamoyloxymethyl) 2', 3'-dideoxyuridine 5'- monophosphate (DM2-ddUMP) (1a) was synthesized as a potential membrane- permeable prodrug of ddUMP (3). Unlike the bis(pivaloyloxymethyl) analog, 1b, 1a was completely resistant to degradation by plasma enzymes - a property that should enhance its bioavailability.
