Abstract

Q1 What percentage of children who underwent successful Kasai’s procedure (hepatoportoenterostomy) will have progressive liver disease that requires liver transplantation before adulthood? A 50% B 60% C 70% D 80% E 90% A1 C Kasai’s procedure performed in the newborn is successful when bile flow is restored. Nonetheless, these patients still carry a risk of 70% or greater of developing cirrhosis that will require liver transplantation before adulthood.
