Aviation Considerations in PHEM

This chapter will give an insight into the additional safety considerations to be mindful of when working in the pre-hospital environment and covers many issues that start well before arriving on scene. A safe scene requires a well-trained, competent and practised team with good communication skills who can work well with other agencies. Topics such as driving, use of PPE, equipment checks, kit management and infection control are covered. The importance of being prepared for all scenarios, communicating and escalating concerns whilst assessing dynamic risk and having a team debrief are also covered.
