N2 - In 2017, the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) board of directors prioritized radiopharmaceutical therapy (RPT) as a leading area for new therapeutic development, and the ASTRO RPT workgroup was created. Herein, the workgroup has developed a framework for RPT curriculum development upon which education leaders can build to integrate this modality into radiation oncology resident education. Through this effort, the workgroup aims to provide a guide to ensure robust training in an emerging therapeutic area within the context of existing radiation oncology training in radiation biology, medical physics, and clinical radiation oncology. The framework first determines the core RPT knowledge required to select patients, prescribe, safely administer, and manage related adverse events. Then, it defines the most important topics for preparing residents for clinical RPT planning and delivery. This framework is designed as a tool to supplement the current training that exists for radiation oncology residents. The final document was approved by the ASTRO board of directors in the fall of 2021.
