Abstract

Despite its limited use in the pediatric population, anterior arthrodesis of the cervical spine remains a valuable tool for the treatment of cervical spine abnormalities in children. This chapter describes the indications for anterior cervical spine arthrodesis with the use of single-level versus multiple-level discectomy or corpectomy, with and without instrumentation. We discuss the use of structural bone graft versus cages and morselized bone graft, as well as the contraindication of bone morphogenic protein.
