Abstract

Annual blood pressure data for each of 242 men were analyzed on the assumption that some of the individual, temporal trends in systolic pressure could be characterized by two linear processes, the second of which was steeper than the first. The group of 56 men who met the criteria for two factor processes could be further sub-divided into two groups, depending upon whether the second process started before or after the age of 40. Additional evidence is presented which suggests that these may be distinct sub-groups.
