Abstract

America is growing older. The characteristics of the nation's elders tell the story both of their own lives and recent history. Since ageing is both an individual and a societal process, the ageing of populations, like that of individuals, is inevitable in the long run. This Bulletin describes the older population, their socioeconomic and health status, and examines the problems and opportunities created by the burgeoning population of older people and the ageing of society. -from Authors
