Abstract

A 24 yr old black male had a 12 yr course of sarcoid with severe pulmonary involvement and an episode of pulmonary tuberculosis. A mycetoma due to Allescheria boydii developed in one lung and with the underlying pulmonary disease probably led to episodic hemoptysis, respiratory insufficiency and death in cor pulmonale. The case is only the 11th described with pulmonary infection due to A. boydii.
