Abstract

A cluster of microcalcifications is one of the earliest mammographic signs of breast cancer at its potentially most curable stage. We present a fully automated algorithm for detecting clusters of microcalcifications based on the contour map of the mammogram. The acceptance regions for the features are determined on a training set and performance is evaluated on a distinct test set.
