Subareolar breast cancers and Paget's disease of the breast can be effectively treated with breast conservation therapy. However, central tumor and nipple-areola complex resection may cause a significant breast deformity or asymmetry if closed primarily. The immediate, breast-sparing, reconstructive technique we describe following central lumpectomy is advantageous in that patients can potentially have an excellent oncologic outcome and an aesthetically pleasing result in one operation.
